Practical guide
How to make a clean transparent PNG
Choose a strong source photo, remove its background, repair difficult edges and export a useful high-resolution PNG.
1. Start with the right image
Clear separation between the subject and its surroundings gives the AI the best chance of producing a clean cutout. Use a sharp, well-lit photo whenever possible. Hair, transparent objects, motion blur and similar background colors are naturally more difficult.
2. Upload, drop or paste
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP file, drag it into the upload area, or copy an image and press Ctrl+V. Pixelfun runs the model in your browser. The first use can take longer while the model is downloaded and cached.
3. Compare before and after
Drag the comparison handle across the preview. Look closely around hair, fingers, clothing, product corners and narrow gaps. These areas are most likely to need a small correction.
4. Repair edges with Restore and Erase
Select Fix edges. Restore puts original pixels back where the AI removed too much. A faint original-image guide appears behind transparent areas so you can see missing details. Erase removes leftover background pixels. Start with a larger brush for broad areas, then reduce its size for hair and narrow edges.
5. Download and use your PNG
Apply the edge fix and download the result. PNG supports transparency, making it useful for thumbnails, presentations, product listings, social posts and design software. The checkerboard represents transparency and is not included in the downloaded image.
Tips for better results
- Avoid screenshots when the original photo is available.
- Use the highest-resolution source your device can handle.
- Zoom your browser when refining small details.
- Use Undo immediately if a brush stroke removes too much.
- Keep a copy of the original photo for later edits.
